WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION NEWS
by Betsy Young
The official WGA Golf season closed in October but hopefully there will be
plenty of mild winter days when we can get out on the course. Be sure and stay
in touch with your WGA golfing friends during the winter months, even when not
playing a round of golf. Golf comes and goes but special friendships last
forever!

“The Birdie Says”
Just because the temperature is down don’t give up on golf. Here is several
suggestions to help keep you playing – and enjoying – golf across the winter
months: And Remember to Have FUN!
- Dress in several light layers.
- Try rain gloves or winter golf gloves (one for each hand).
- Wear a cap to retain heat.
- If agreeable to your playing partners, invoke the “leaf rule”. This means if a
ball has come to rest in an area where a lot of leaves have fallen and you feel
the ball could easily be found if it weren’t for the leaves, take a free drop
and don’t spend too much time searching for the ball.
- Take an extra club or two on most shots.
- Try playing a scramble or using a match play format to mix things up and to
speed up play.
- To stay warm, carry your bag and walk if you are able, instead of riding.

Year”!
