September

On Tuesday, September 2nd we welcome Dr. Mary Powell Kirk. Dr. Kirk will present information about the college, opportunities for learning, college outreach efforts, and our vision for the future. She will have information on new classes that we are sure some of our membership would be interested in taking at the Community College. Once again, we extend a special invitation to ALL THE MEN of the CLUB to this informative meeting.

Mary Powell Kirk was born in Tryon, NC. and received her undergraduate degree in office administration from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. Following her undergraduate study, she was employed by a private hospital for 7 years in Greensboro, one year with a law firm in Beaufort, NC and began her educational career with Carteret Community College in Morehead City as an administrative assistant to the President.

The community college employment led her to pursue studies in the educational field at the graduate level. Maintaining full-time employment, she completed a Masters of Education in Adult Education at East Carolina University, Greenville, North Carolina and then entered the Adult and Community College Education program at North Carolina State University. During the course of her masters and doctoral studies, she became Assistant to the President for Development and Personnel, and during her last two years at Carteret Community College, she was the Dean of Instruction. She currently is President of Montgomery Community College, Troy, North Carolina and completed her doctorate in Higher Education in Spring 2000.
